Fountains of Wayne's Brian Young has been moonlighting as the drummer for hot up-and-coming band The Jesus And Mary Chain. They're playing selected US dates at the moment and ending with a showcase for PASTE Magazine at SXSW.
"Fountains of Wayne began their career with Virgin Records, played at our United States festival in 2006, and their new album, "Sky Full of Holes," is terrific and proves that some things get better with age. They're famous for clever lyrics, but their live shows are brilliant."
Stephen King gives a year-end shout out to FoW in Entertainment Weekly.
"If you're a purist, the Fountains are dismissible. If you love pop music, they are indispensable. The hooks are tasty, and the lyrics (the best ones here in "Richie and Ruben") are full of delightful snark. How can you not like a group that starts a song ("Someone's Gonna Break Your Heart") with the line "Starin' at the sun with no pants on"? It's not all snark, either; sample the simple sweetness of "A Road Song" if you don't believe me."
